Since 1977 Tampa Crossroads, Inc. has continued to set new goals for serving those in our community who wish to change their lives and make healthy decisions for themselves and their families. After three decades of service in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties our clients continue to experience great achievements with the successful completion of our programs. Thousands of men and women have returned to the community gainfully employed as productive citizens, and able to re-establish relationships with their families and friends. This is a credit to the skilled and caring staff who strive daily to help those in need of our services.
2008 has been a “BANNER” year indeed. Our premier residential treatment center for women fondly referred to as ROSE MANOR continues to assist those individuals who are ready to become self-responsible members of the community. Our renovation efforts have paid off in having a beautiful home for the women to heal and rehabilitate. Our work assures that the history and integrity of this building will be preserved for years to come and we will continue to provide a safe and peaceful place for our clients to call home. Again I want to thank the design students at the International Academy of Design and Technology for months of hard work on their part to research colors, interior furnishings to accommodate our adaptive re-use of the property and the Secretary of Interior Standards for historic renovations in order to assist us in completing the project and furnishing the interior.
Our NON-RESIDENTIAL program in Seminole Heights continues to offer substance testing, assessments, and evaluations with extended hours, no appointments necessary and immediate results. Our highly qualified clinical staff led by Javier Perez continues to achieve the highest success rates through our unique program philosophy. We have extended our hours from 8:00 am to 7 p.m. and we now offer Saturday testing for the convenience of our clients. Our TRIAD program for repeat DUI offenders continues to reflect a very high rate of success for this challenging population. We are so pleased with the excellent ratings given to our counseling staff as well as our program content through the research project completed by Dr. Kathleen Moore at FMHI, and we look forward to continuing our work to provide treatment to this very difficult group of men and women.
The St. Pete forensic program (PEARL HOUSE) for men and women diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness continues to offer highly specialized treatment for those individuals who are diverted from jail or the Florida State Hospital for transition back into the community as stable and productive members. We continue to work with the Pinellas County Public Defenders Office and the Department of Children and Families to assist this population in their recovery. Our new Program Manager, Ms. Lauren Trunko is doing an exceptional job building a TEAM of caring staff to assist these clients with their transition.
We continue to promote our concepts for a healthier lifestyle through dietary changes and exercise routines and work with a registered dietician to provide a healthier menu offering more wholesome fresh foods from local suppliers. Our clients were very appreciative of the opportunity to return to their homes with a new attitude about their physical well being.
ATHENA house, our latest program will be opening in November 2008 to house and offer supportive assistance to homeless female veterans. Bob Brown, Clinical Director and Program Development Director worked very hard to bring this program to our community. Ms. Robyn Larson, Director of Women’s Residential Services will be managing the day to day operations of this residential center. The recently renovated 100 year old Fernandez Building will be home to 16-women who are honorably discharged female soldiers. These women will need our assistance in order to regain their independence and self esteem after being homeless in our community. We have received so many wonderful donations to help these women get back on their feet. Hundreds of donors from across Hillsborough County have already stepped forward to insure that we all show the respect and honor that these women need for their recovery. For more information and a picture gallery of this State Model program please refer to Residential Programs-Athena on our web site. Tampa Crossroads is very proud to be a leader in the U.S. for providing gender-specific residential treatment to our female heroes.
Finally, I would like to say that Tampa Crossroads, Inc. has put together one of the finest TEAMS of men and women who do a remarkable job in the face of much difficulty. From our Program Managers and Clinical staff to the shift supervisors, I commend you all for the caring and considerate way that you deal with each one who comes to our agency for help through a difficult time. I appreciate your giving nature and your hard work to insure success for each person we provide services to.
As we continue to work toward good health, good decision making and stability for our clients I hope that you will remember us in our ongoing needs. Your donations of time, dollars, services, goods, clothing, and vehicles continue to support our daily programming. As always we remain dedicated to those we serve and we look forward to your continued support in the year ahead.
Sincerely,
